THE ANOINTING OF HANDS
by Steve Pegram
Hebrews 6:2, "Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."
According to this scripture, there is an anointing of hands. But what exactly is it? Well, in order to understand that, we have to look at what the Word of God says.
- Our Hands Are Symbolic Of Our Work And Warfare:
Psalm 90:17, "And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."
Psalm 128:2, "For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands."
Ecclesiastes 2:11, "Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do."
Judges 16:24, "Our God hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country."
Psalm 18:34, "He teacheth my hands to war."
Psalm 144:1, "Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight."
- God Seeks To Anoint Our Hands For Our Work And Warfare For The Kingdom.
Acts 5:12, "And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people."
Acts 6:6, "Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them."
Acts 8:17, "Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."
Acts 14:3, "...and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands."
Acts 19:6, "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied."
Acts 19:11, "And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul."
2 Timothy 1:6, "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance, that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands."
As you can see my friends, there is an anointing of hands that God has ordained within the body of Christ. Let us lift up our hands together this day and declare to the heavens, "Oh God, anoint our hands!"
