“And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3:13-15)
Genesis 3 is a powerful Scripture that is the promise of satan’s ultimate defeat at the hands (or feet) of Jesus Christ! Jesus, on the cross of Calvary, rendered satan totally defeated and absolutely powerless. Now, we, who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb, have been given the power and authority to defeat the devil in our lives. We have the ability through the blood of Jesus to overcome him at all times. As a matter of fact, he can only be as large in your life as you allow him to be. So, I would like to share with you some ways to make him smaller in your life. Are you ready to learn how to shrink the devil?
- We shrink the devil by using our faith. 1 John 5:4 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” When we use our faith in our God, we overcome the enemy and his dark forces.
- We shrink the devil through Christ’s power. Ephesians 1:19-22 (ESV) tells us, “and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church.”
- We shrink the devil by using the Word of God. I John 2:14 (NKJV) says, “I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.” We overcome the wicked one through the Word of God! Every time we use the Word against him, we shrink his power in our life. Every time we quote the Word to him, he has to shrink back knowing full well the power that the Word has against him.
- We shrink the devil by the blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” When we learn to appropriate the blood of Jesus over our lives we begin to shrink the devil’s grip against us. Pleading the blood is a powerful weapon against the devil.
- We shrink the devil by the word of our testimony. Once again, we look at Revelation 12:11 where it says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” We overcome the enemy of our soul by the word of our testimony. Child of God, every time you share your personal testimony of how Jesus saved your soul from sin and death, you are doing four things. 1. You are sharing the Gospel with others. 2. You are giving glory to God for what He has done in your life. 3. You are building yourself up in your holy faith. 4. You are shrinking the devil’s power over you.
- We shrink the devil by walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-16 tells us, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” When we are walking in the flesh, the flesh controls our every move. But when we live and walk in the Spirit of the Most High God, we will walk in victory. As we walk in the victory of the Spirit, we then will not walk according to the flesh any longer, thus not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. This in turn causes the devil’s hold on you to be shrunk.
