Not only does the actual blood of Jesus have importance, power, and authority, in and of itself, but also HOW Jesus shed His blood has tremendous importance, power and authority over all the power of the enemy!
There are 9 ways that Jesus shed His blood for us, and each is of the utmost importance to our daily victory over the devil.
- Blood From Sweat: In the Garden of Gethsemane, we are told in Luke 22:44 (NIV), “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” His sweat becoming drops of blood represents “Victory Over Stress!”
- Blood From His Mouth: In the high priest's house, we are told in Luke 22:64 (TLB), “Now the guards in charge of Jesus began mocking him. They blindfolded him and hit him with their fists and asked, “Who hit you that time, prophet?” Slapped, punched and hit in the face and mouth. As the blood came pouring out of His mouth it represented “Victory Over Our Speech!”
- Blood From His Nose: From the same verse about the mouth, we also recognize that as they punched Jesus in the face, that His nose bled as well. Bleeding from His nose represents “Victory Over Our Emotions!” The word translated as "nose" in Hebrew is (aph). It appears over 270 times in the Tanakh. But it isn't always translated as "nose." In fact, in most Bibles, over 200 of these occurrences are translated as "anger" or "angry.
- Blood From His Cheeks: The Bible tells us in Isaiah 50:6 (CSB), “I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard.” As the blood ran out of His cheeks as they plucked His beard, it was for “Victory With Honor & Dignity!” What does this mean? Well, what is the most famous reference to “cheeks” in the Bible? In Luke 6:29 (AMP) we read, “Whoever strikes you on the cheek, offer him the other one also [simply ignore insignificant insults or losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity].” Jesus is offering to confront violence, maintain your honor, and shame the perpetrator; instead of escalating violence, or losing dignity.
- Blood From His Head: In John 19:2 (ESV) it tells us, “And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head.” When the Crown of Thorns was placed on His head, He began to bleed from His head, representing “Victory Over Our Minds!” Romans 8:5-6 (ESV) tells us the importance of the mind in the life of the believer: “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” The Greek word for “mind” is phroneo which represents our thoughts, our views, and our reasoning abilities.
- Blood From His Back: When Jesus was in Pilate's judgment hall, John 19:1 tells us, “Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged severely.” And as He was being flogged with a Roman cat-of-nine-tails, with His back laid open and His blood pouring out, He was providing for us “Victory Over Every Disease, Sickness or Illness!” Regardless if it is Physical, Emotional, Mental, or Spiritual, we have Victory over it all! For 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV) says that, “by his wounds (stripes) you have been healed.”
- Blood From His Hands: As the nails went through the hands of Jesus, and the blood flowed out of them, it represented “Victory & Anointing For Our Power & Strength & Warfare For The Kingdom!” Psalm 144:1 (NASB) tells us, “Blessed be the Lord, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.”
- Blood From His Feet: As the nail went into the feet of Jesus, and blood flowed out of them, it represented “Victory & Anointing For Our Walk!” Psalm 18:33 says “He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly and tread safely on paths of testing and trouble]; He sets me [securely] upon my high places.”
-
Blood From His Side: Upon the spear being thrust into the side of Jesus, and as blood and water flowed out of His side, it represented the greatest revelation of the authority of the blood yet! Blood is for redemption, to deal with sins (Heb. 9:22) for the purchasing of the church (Acts 20:28). Water is for imparting life, to deal with death for the producing of the church. For, out of Adam's side (his ribs) was birthed his bride – Eve, so out of the second man Adam, Jesus, was birthed His bride also – called the Church! And victory has been granted to her by the power of the blood of Jesus! “They won the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb.” (GNT – Good New Translation)
