Hebrews 6:2, “Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement.”
According to this scripture there is a doctrine of laying on of hands. But what exactly does that mean? We know in Pentecostal circles that we have been instructed by the Word of God to lay hands upon people when praying for them. But what is the reason behind this? Well, to fully understand it, it would be better for us to look directly at the Word of God rather than on just a man’s teaching. There are two major points I want you to see from the Word.
-
Our Hands Are Symbolic Of Our “Work” and Our “Warfare”.
Psalms 90:17, “And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.”
Psalms 128:2, “For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.”
Ecclesiates 2:11, “Then I looked upon all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do.”
Judges 16:24, “And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy.”
Psalms 18:34, “He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.”
Psalms 144:1, “Blessed by the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.”

Acts 9:17, “And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way that thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 13:3, “And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”
Acts 14:3, “Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the words of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.”
Acts 19:6, “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them: and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”
Acts 19:11, “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul.”
Acts 28:8, “And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.”
1 Timothy 4:14, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
2 Timothy 1:6, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance, that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
As we can see from verse after verse of scripture, there is definitely a doctrine of laying on of hands. As you have just read these verses for yourself, I trust and pray that they placed within you a burning hunger to fulfill this God-called, God-ordained, God-anointed doctrine of laying on of hands.
If your excuse is that you don’t know how. There is no set formula, just lay hands on the sick and see them recover. Lay hands on the afflicted and see them healed. Lay hands on the oppressed and see them delivered. Lay hands on the hurting and see them mended. Just lay hands!
My friend, I promise to you that if you can get these words that you have read in this message today within your spirit, you will perform the works of God with The Anointing Of Hands!
