WHO IS THE REAL YOU?
by Kathy Pegram
We were recently watching a television show called The Rookie. A social media post was made that said all citizens could commit any crime and not be prosecuted for three hours. I believe there have been movies made also about the same thing. But, for some reason the show that night really made me wonder about Christian people, and what if, for three hours, you not only wouldn’t be prosecuted by law enforcement, but God gave you three hours to sin without repercussions?
What kind of person lives in you? Are you so sold out, bought out, and committed to Christ that you would stand firm in Him? Or do you rush out and get high, commit adultery, murder, rob banks, and shoplift? I would hope we would choose what we would do based on our being a witness of Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian, you want the world to be transformed, and you want other people to know God. When you tell people you are a Christian, you should live up to the standard of Jesus Christ. What if in those three hours you could win more people than you ever dreamed of to the Lord just by standing firm in your convictions?
I am always amazed at the love that so many, who call themselves Christians, have for the world. They want to enjoy its entertainment, wear its immodest clothes, and accept every excuse they hear for why it’s fine to continue to be living like the world. It’s so sad when worldliness creeps into so many areas of our lives. We have become accepting of sexual immorality, foul language, and even witchcraft.
We are supposed to be separating ourselves from the world, but in those three hours how many wouldn’t be able to resist doing the exact same things the world was doing? How many are already doing them simply because they are abusing God’s grace? Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Let’s follow that for those three hours!
Love and Prayers,
Kathy
