THE SONG OF A WARRIOR
Psalm 108
This psalm is comprised of portions of two other psalms (57 and 60) to make a victorious song about overcoming. It is the song of a warrior, and in it, David makes three affirmations.
(1) I WILL Praise! (vs 1-6). A steadfast heart is a singing and worshiping heart because confidence in God gives you something to sing and worship about. David arose early to sing to the Lord and praise Him. Worship is good preparation for the warfare that is to come.
(2) I WILL Listen! (vs 7-9). God heard the voice of David, and then David listened to the voice of God. It was a word of assurance to David that: "All nations are mine, and I can do with them as I please."
(3) I WILL Conquer! (vs 10-13). God leads us into battle, helps us capture the enemy's strongholds, and gives us the victory. Verse 13 was true for David in his day, and it's still true for us in our day. “With God we shall do valiantly; it is He who will tread down our foes.”
