UNDERSTANDING THE ANOINTING

1 John 2:20 & 27, “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things…But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

  1. What Is The Anointing?

The anointing is the presence and power of God manifested. It is therefore, the manifest presence of God. It is when the presence of God becomes a tangible force within or upon our lives so that we may know or experience Him.

  1. The Anointing Destroys The Yoke.

One of the most often misquoted verses in the entire Bible is Isaiah 10:27. It says, “the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” What I have heard so many say is this…the anointing breaks the yoke. But that’s not what the Word said! It didn’t say it would break it but destroy it! If you break something, it can be glued back together a lot of times with glue and fixed. But, if you destroy something, especially by crushing it into many tiny pieces, it cannot be fixed and restored back to its original state or look. The anointing doesn’t just break the yoke from off our lives, it destroys it!

  1. The Anointing Is The Equipment.

The anointing is the supernatural equipment to get the job done for both the Kingdom of God and our own individual lives. We can accomplish much with the right equipment. As long as a person has the right equipment, they can do anything. But, on the other hand, if they have the wrong equipment, it will be much harder for them to accomplish what they need to get done. This is what the anointing does. It gives the believer the proper equipment to accomplish much for the kingdom of God. And with God’s equipment, you can’t go wrong!

  1. The Anointing Is Our Clothing.

The anointing is the believer’s clothing and without it, we are naked! A powerful statement? Yes. But a truthful one. Believe it or not, this is what happened to Adam in the Garden of Eden. He was originally clothed in the shekina glory of God and it was his clothing. I mean, think about it. He was naked naturally, but didn’t know he was naked. Why? Because he was clothed in the anointing, or shekina, of God and he didn’t see nakedness, but rather, God’s presence. And when Adam sinned, he lost his clothing.

The anointing re-clothes our spirit man with the presence of God! And whereas sin separated us from that presence and fellowship, now the anointing brings us back into that fellowship and communion with God. Oh praise the Lord!
