“People do not despise a thief If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving. Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold; He may have to give up all the substance of his house.” (Proverbs 6:30-31 NKJV)
There was a law in the Old Testament that was called the law of restitution. The law of restitution stated that if someone took something from you illegally, and were found, and you could prove that they were the ones who took your goods, they would be required not only to return that which they had taken, but also to restore to you seven times the value of the object. For example: If someone stole a sheep from you, not only would they have to return that sheep, if possible, but also give you seven more sheep. If they stole, let's say, $10 from you, they would have to give you back that $10 plus an additional $70.
John 10:10 says that “the thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” But remember, the law of restitution states that in order to get back your goods, you had to know who the thief was. And we do. We know that this is talking about Satan's agenda against mankind. The second thing is, after you know who the thief was, in order to get back your possession sevenfold, it had to be taken from you illegally. I can tell you right now that the devil has no legal right to anything that has been given to you by God. No legal right! That is what is promised in the Word of God. Jeremiah 1:12 says that “God will back up His word to the point of hastening it to perform what it says.” Every promise in the Word of God is mine and yours, and the devil can't do anything about it.
Do you know what God said is yours? He said, “I have for you salvation. I have for you sanctification. I have for you the baptism of My Holy Ghost. I will give you freedom from guilt. I'll give you a new life, a new way, a new home, a new song. I'll give you a new heart and even a new tongue.” He also said, “I'll give you protection and I'll give to you safety. I'll give you healing for your body. I'll give you a mind that can be free from fear. I'll be your provider. I'll give you joy. I have for you peace, happiness, and love. I'm going to give you access to me anytime, just if you want to come and talk. I'll give you friendship, fellowship, and the good old gospel ship!”
He goes on and says, “I'm going to give you a blessed hope. I'm going to give you the promise of My return. And even if you die, you're not really going to be dead, because I'm going to give you a new body. I'm not only going to give you life, but I'm going to give you the more abundant life.” He says if that's not enough, He'll also “give you power over the devil and over every creeping thing.” And hear me, the devil is the biggest creep around! But there's one more thing that He promised in His Holy Word. He said, “I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” You are getting ready to take back everything the enemy has stolen from you, and have it returned to you seven-times over. Praise God!
